Biography

Nadine Lohof (*Kassel, 1987) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans painting, drawing, and sculptural installations. Her work has been exhibited widely across Germany and Europe, reflecting a sustained interest in her explorations of identity, relationships, and materiality.

In her art, Lohof investigates the fluidity of identity and the tensions between visibility and concealment. Life, memory, and human interaction serve as recurring motifs, translated into compositions where figuration and abstraction coexist. Raised in a craft-oriented household, she approaches her materials with both precision and improvisation, layering gestures and references to create works that oscillate between tenderness and tension, intimacy and concealment.

Materiality plays a central role in her practice. Her sculptures often utilize soap—a medium that embodies paradox: cleansing yet leaving traces, ephemeral yet charged with memory. In painting, drawing, and sculptural works, Lohof captures the residue of human presence, engaging with corporeality, emotion, and the transient nature of perception.

Her work has been shown at Circle Culture Gallery Berlin and Hamburg, Galerie Michael Janssen Berlin, Kunsthalle Wien, and Haus am Lützowplatz, among others. Private and public collections across Germany, Switzerland, the UK, and the USA hold her works, and her practice has been featured in contemporary art publications exploring painting, materiality, and identity.

Nadine Lohof lives and works in Berlin, Germany.
