Lennart Grau works with oil and acrylic to build layered compositions that move between realism and abstraction. In “In Wallung / Nudes”, the brushwork and use of color create a sense of divine and almost celestial forms. Light, shadow and subtle trompe l’oeil effects give the work a striking presence while also allowing the shapes to feel as if they could shift or dissolve at any moment.
In this painting, Grau explores themes of identity, transformation and transience. Ethereal forms appear to rise from luminous backgrounds and then recede again, inviting viewers to reflect on perception, memory and the fragile and ever changing nature of human experience.
